SILVA TO DIRECT INTERNATIONAL SALES, BUSINESS
DEVELOPMENT FOR NOVA
HUNTINGTON PARK, CA (February 19, 2009) - Alex
Silva has been appointed to the newly created position of Director
of International Sales and Business Development for NOVA, announced
Daniel Edelist, CEO, NOVA. In his new role, Silva will build and
oversee a sales team and research new trade show, permanent showroom
and other brand and business-building opportunities in key markets
around the world for the California-based contemporary lighting
and home décor company.
Formerly
the Key Account Manager for NOVA, Silva recently completed a 4-month
sabbatical where he traveled extensively throughout Asia. -from
Tokyo to Laos and Cambodia to Beijing.
"Alex's solid track record with our company, together with
his key account experience and the renewed international focus
he has gained during his recent travels, make him the ideal candidate
for this important new position," says Edelist. "His
insight and industry experience will certainly help guide us as
we continue to expand our company's offerings and presence both
domestically and abroad."
Silva (pictured right and below with NOVA CEO Edelist), who is
fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, will focus initially on finding
and developing strategic partnerships for NOVA in Mexico, Central
and South America, as well as Southeast Asia before July 2009.
In addition, he will help tailor trade show and marketing efforts
to attract more international clients to NOVA's showrooms. He
will also work closely with NOVA's international key accounts
to develop tools and products that meet their specialized market
needs.
Silva's
appointment is another step in NOVA's long-term growth strategy.
In addition to domestic trade showrooms at the Dallas Market Center,
Las Vegas World Market Center and International Home Furnishings
Center in High Point, NC, the company expanded its international
presence in 2008 when it opened a showroom in Zhongshan, China,
as well as a 20-000-square-foot manufacturing operation near the
Otay Mesa border in Mexico. NOVA also opened a new domestic prototype
operation in Laguna Hills, CA in February 2008 to help accelerate
its design capabilities and fine-tune and test market its latest
lighting and home décor items before sending them into
full-scale overseas production.
The company also participates in a number of international trade
shows, including the recent January 2009 Expo Estilo y Decoracion
in Mexico City, Expo Mueble Internacional Invierno in Guadalajara,
FIAM Valencia Lighting Show in Spain and the International Lighting
Fair Zhongshan in China.
